SEMINARS AND A SPECIAL WORKSHOP

The great Dave Youngquist is on tap for Saturday's seminar, and we'll be announcing the Sunday seminar soon.

Meanwhile, in case you did not see the latest issue of The Scabbard, Bill Ottinger will present a special workshop on Modeling Historex Horses on Friday, Oct. 19. MMSI will provide a Historex mounted kit to each attendee, as well as furnishing lighting, glues, palette paper, toothpicks, sandpaper and emery sticks. You must bring an X-acto knife with three #11 blades, epoxy putty, files, and a brush for smoothing putty. (Vendors will have these tools and materials available at the show if you can't travel with them.) Bill has prepared a detailed pamphlet with tips to help on future projects, and one attendee will receive an autographed copy of his Historex Masterclass book, a classic now out of print. The workshop runs from noon until 4 p.m., with a break for a snack, but you must register in advance and pay a $50 fee (a bargain!) to Joe Berton, 235 S. Elmwood Ave., Oak Park, IL 60302. Email Joe with questions at joeberton21@yahoo.com.

More info and a schedule will be posted here in the weeks to come. As always, we also appreciate help from anyone willing to volunteer a few hours during the show; YOU help make it possible! Contact show chair Pat Vess at patrick.vess@united.com, and thanks!

Below: An example of one of Bill's mounted figures. We can't guarantee you'll get these results, but we DO promise you'll leave the workshop with something to blow your horn about!
